Holiday Matching Gift Challenge

Meet "Old Guy" who's far from Sweet 16. He started off more naughty than nice, but we welcomed him into our Sanctuary nonetheless. At the golden age of 15, he came to us in April 2014 in desperate need of medical attention. With only 3 teeth remaining, it was surely a struggle for him to survive on the streets. He was suffering from cancer that was left untreated. Our veterinarian, Dr. Ako, who flies in twice a month from Honolulu, had a difficult time examining him, but Old Guy knew we were there to help. We provided medical attention that he desperately needed. His wounds were tended to and one of his eyes had to be removed.

Not to worry though. Old Guy doesn't miss a beat. In fact, since being with us for the past two years, his personality has blossomed into a proud Lanai lion who now allows people to pet him (on most days when he feels like it).

Senior cats need a lot more TLC and geriatric care requires a great deal of diligence and expertise to really know what these Baby Boomers need. Our job is to make him as comfortable as possible in our care and to watch over him to ensure that every ache and pain, every cold and illness – is treated swiftly and compassionately. We keep our eye on Old Guy and hope that you will too. He is just one of 500+ cats in our care that all have special needs. The Stone family of San Rafael, California recently visited the sanctuary and it was the highlight of their son Jake's vacation. They were so inspired that they have come forward with an incredibly opportunity that will enable us to continue to care for our Lanai lions and also continue to rescue more on the streets.
