50 recently rescued cats urgently need your help.

September is sweltering as cats struggle through the season on Lanai.

A man has given up on helpless cats that he was feeding. It started as a few mewing mouths that he fed out of compassion. Before he realized it, there were more than he could count. In the heat of this summer when breeding season has peaked, he walked away from the cats. We could not turn our backs on them and leave them to suffer, starve and multiply. So far, we have rescued 50 in the last few weeks, but there are more. We have trapped relentlessly night and day. Now we must provide these creatures with the highest quality care we can give. We need your help to cover for these unexpected costs. On any given year, we welcome abut 200 cats to our sanctuary. This rescue has challenged us to rise to the occasion.

There are another 20 cats spotted at Hulopoe beach where endangered sea birds are nesting from now through the end of the year. We are working diligently to bring them into our care so that these birds can protect their babies and flourish.

We need your help now more than ever.

Your donation will immediately provide for urgent care services. Two of the cats were found pregnant and one of the mothers rejected her entire litter. We have babies in need of round-the-clock care. We are in the midst of stabilizing the ones that are ill and in need and acclimating those who are frightened. We need your help to provide comfort and care. We need our veterinary team to fly in from Oahu more frequently as there are no services on island.

These suffering cats deserve better. Right now they need exams, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchipping, health screenings (testing for FeLV/FIV), flea treatments and de-worming. For the very first time in their lives, they will have reliable access to fresh food and water, shelter and safety. They will also be given health care for life. They must have companionship that's not fleeting and to thrive in the confidence of knowing that we will always provide for them with your support.
