Make 2018 a lucky 13th year for a cat named Seal

This year marks a special anniversary for Lanai Cat Sanctuary. It's our 13th year with Seal, one of the very first felines who inspired our work.

He's well in to his twilight years now and has scarring on his cornea that is being treated thanks to expert care of Dr. Eric Ako of Honolulu. He sees as best he can thanks to donations and he resides in our newly created senior center. Kupuna (senior) care takes a lot but we are undaunted and relentless in our care--finding the money for costly treatment, daily diligent care and unconditional love to ensure the best quality of life possible for our cats. He's been a trooper having undergone two eye surgeries and rehabilitation.

We rescued Seal and his three brothers from a landfill. He is the last remaining of this siblings as his brother Duncan passed over the rainbow bridge last year.

Our founder Kathy fondly remembers: "They were so tiny at just 4 weeks-old. We brought them to our make-shift shelter – a temporary sanctuary in an abandoned horse corral in the Lanai uplands. They were sick and suffering with terrible eye infections, needing daily medicine and extra TLC."

Maddy and Doug Callahan love Seal and have stepped forward to match all gifts made now.
